Maroons FC beat Wakiso Giants 2-1 in a Uganda Premier League game played at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
Ambrose Arinda own goal and Frederick Kigozi’s goal were all Maroons needed to pick maximum results on the road.
Defender Arinda’s second-half goal only provide to be a consolation for the purple sharks.
Both sides were desperate to have their winning touch back after sharing spoils in their previous games.
The hosts did put up a spirited fight in the first half but couldn’t have a breakthrough in the first half.
Forward Frank Ssebufu had a couple of chances at his disposal but couldn’t bury them in the back of the net.
Maroons looked to be dominant in the midfield and tried creating several chances through Felix Okot and Abel Etrude but non of them counted in the first half.
Visitors came back aggressive for the second half and this paid off 3 minutes later as Ambrose Arinda was forced to score in his net.
Wakiso Giants tried to get a comeback equaliser but the Maroons’ defense was firm and unbreakable.
Paul Willa had his header rattle the crossbar before Sharip Kimbowa missed a seater a few minutes later.
Ten minutes off the hour-mark, Fredrick Kigozi doubled the visitors’ lead taping in off Abraham Tusuubira’s corner kick.
Fives minutes later Arinda scored for the hosts as they pilled pressure on Maroons defense.
Fred Amaku had his powerful strike hit the side net before Abel Etrude missed from close range as Maroons looked to kill off the game.
Defender Patrick cleared Hassan Ssenyonjo’s ball off the Line as Wakiso searched for the equaliser.
A few minutes after his introduction on the pitch. Brian Nkuubi had a chance to score the third for the visitors but had his effort narrowly missed the target.
After 17 league games. Wakiso Giants are fifth on the log of 15 teams with 26 points. For Maroons, they climb 9th with 22 points.
In their next fixtures. Wakiso Giants play Vipers SC in the Uganda cup round of 16 as Maroons host Arua Hill.
Elsewhere, Bright stars beat Blacks Power 2-1 as Busoga United defeated UPDF FC 1-0 in Njeru.
